It’s officially Marathon weekend in Newport News and to wrap up this Marathon Week, we have an overview of the weekend events and a video message from Mayor McKinley Price.

Events kick off today with the Health and Wellness Expo, sponsored by Riverside Health System, at Denbigh Community Center. You can expect a wide variety of vendors on site providing information regarding health, performing free screenings, and giving away great prizes from noon -7 p.m.
On Saturday, the
Health and Wellness Expo continues from 10 a.m.- 5 p.m. at Denbigh Community Center. Later Saturday, spend the evening at this year’s pasta dinner, sponsored by Riverside Health System and held at the new Boathouse Live venue in City Center. The event begins at 6 p.m. and tickets can be purchased online at
onecitymarathon.com. Due to high winds and safety concerns associated with the weather, the Family Fit and Fun Day scheduled at Brooks Crossing on Saturday afternoon has been cancelled.
Sunday’s fun begins bright and early as runners to take to the streets of Newport News. The marathon runners start off in Newport News Park at 7 a.m. The Maritime 8K participants begin at 7:30 a.m. downtown near the Victory Arch and Nautical Mile participants hit the pavement starting at 10 a.m. Witness the runners along the route and cheer them on from
Wave Stations across the city. After you finish your race or while you’re waiting for runners to cross the finish line, party in Victory Landing Park at the One City One Celebration. Enjoy music, food, games, and vendors.
