Resources and information for parents and professionals
The Newport News Department of Human Services is hosting the second annual Post Adoption Services Conference on Saturday, March 10, from 8:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. The free event is being held at the Marriott at City Center, 740 Town Center Drive in Newport News.

The conference is designed to provide resources and information for families who have adopted youth or expect to adopt any youth through any department of human services in the Hampton Roads area.
Aimed at adoptive parents and professionals alike, the conference brings leaders in the child welfare field to the Hampton Roads area. The event offers a variety of topical workshops designed to deepen the knowledge of attendees, make connections to other adoptive parents and professionals, and give participants the tools they can utilize in their home as well as in their communities. Speakers such as Chauncey Strong, MSW and workshop presenters share their knowledge and expertise to help participants gain a new perspective, increase their skills, and utilize appropriate services for their needs.
Thirty-five child care slots are available. Contact Ms. Shereen Wynder at 757-926- 6166 if you would like to sign your child up! Please let them know if your child has any special needs accommodations. Breakfast and lunch are provided but you must register to choose your meal option. To register for the event, visit
