Sister Cities Newport News is hosting their Annual GlobalBee on Saturday, March 17 at Brittingham-Midtown Community Center. From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. teams of two to five players will compete for a trophy by answering a series of international trivia questions. Sister Cities is currently accepting registrations for teams. High school teams can register free and non-high school teams can participate for $50. Trophies are being awarded in three categories: high school, college, and overall top score.
Sister Cities of Newport News is also asking the public to submit questions to include in the Global Bee by March 1. At least 50 percent of this year’s GlobaBee quiz will consist of questions submitted. Question bank categories include world geography, current world events, sports, culture and customs, and world religions.
The event is open to the general public and tickets to watch the competition are $10 and include lunch.
