Sneak Peek at local Mastodon Bones this weekend only!

The Virginia Living Museum is thrilled to present their newly acquired Mastodon fossils during Ice Age Weekend. Approximately 16,000 years ago Mastodons, extinct elephant-like mammals, would have been roaming Virginia. Now, the fossils can be viewed right here in Newport News! On February 17, 18 and 19, visitors to the museum have the opportunity to view the fossils during 30 minute tours at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. The tour is only available this weekend for ages 8 and above and a maximum group capacity of 12 guests. Additionally during Ice Age Weekend, guests can enjoy displays of Ice Age artifacts, live animal shows, and themed hands-on activities including “blubber science,” a scavenger hunt, and more at noon and 2 p.m. all weekend long.
