drop off old child safety seats for $5 Did you know that an old or broken safety seat could be putting a child in danger? To help keep our young children as safe as possible, Drive Safe Hampton Roads, along with Walmart, AAA Tidewater Virginia, DMV: Virginia Highway Safety Office, Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters, WVEC Channel 13,  Hoffman Beverage and Waste Management of Virginia, Inc. have teamed up to conduct the 29th Annual Old, Used, Borrowed and Abused Child Safety Seat Round-up.

Many safety seats are old, have missing parts, have been recalled by the manufacturer, or are no longer crashworthy. Drive Safe Hampton Roads and their partners want to round-up and recycle them so they cannot be used again, but they need your help! During the month of February, drop off used safety seats at most area Walmart Supercenters or any AAA Tidewater offices for a $5 reward. Donations are limited to 2 seats per person.

If you have any questions about the round-up or traffic safety issues, call Drive Safe Hampton Roads at 757-498-2562 or email With your help, Drive Safe Hampton Roads can remove potentially dangerous safety seats from the public and help keep our children safe. Your efforts just might save a child’s life.
