Celebrate Black History Month with Movie Showings at Denbigh Community Center

Posted on February 2, 2018 at 10:56 AM by Daniel Kvaternik

Denbigh Community Center is presenting its First Annual Black History Month Drop In Movie series. Stop by the center every Tuesday in February to see a variety of films, showing throughout the day at 10 a.m., 1 p.m., 4 p.m., and 7 p.m. Each showing is free and open to the public but seating, which holds up to 60 people, is first come first serve. Personal refreshments are welcomed.

The series kicks off this Tuesday, February 6, with a showing of Marshall, a film about a young Thurgood Marshall, the first African-American Supreme Court Justice. The series continues with Selma on February 13, Race- Jesse Owens on February 20 and Hidden Figures on February 27. Be sure to keep the Hidden Figures 4 p.m. showing marked on your calendar because special guest, Dr. Christine Darden, will be there speaking, answering questions and available for photos. Dr. Darden was a human calculator at NASA and is one of the women highlighted in the film.
