A one-day, one-stop resource event for the homeless

The Newport News Department of Human Services is holding the 2nd Annual Project Homeless Connect event on Wednesday, January 24 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The free event is being held at the Doris Miller Community Center at 2814 Wickham Avenue. Project Homeless Connect supports the Peninsula’s plan to end homelessness, and is a one-day, one-stop event bringing necessary services and resources to people who are homeless. Services available at the event include access to community resources, core benefits, health screenings, housing resources, haircuts, and employment resources. Breakfast will be provided for guests. The Department of Human Services is partnering with a variety of local and regional agencies and vendors to provide resources to those individuals who are or are in jeopardy of becoming homeless.
