January is Human Trafficking Awareness Month
In an effort to increase understanding about the victims of human trafficking, the Catholic Health Association is presenting a webinar about a safe haven model for victims. On Wednesday, January 17, from 3:00 – 4:00 p.m., ”A Medical Safe Haven for Victims” webinar is being presented at Bon Secours Mary Immaculate Conference Center in Auditorium A. The Conference Center is located at 2 Bernardine Drive in Newport News.
The free webinar explores a safe haven medicine residency clinic in Sacramento that serves the dual purpose of providing medical care for human trafficking victims and training future physicians to recognize and treat victims. The webinar will describe why and how the clinic was started and present a model for replicating the center in other communities using guidance from the 2017 Human Trafficking Leadership Academy.
The webinar is free but an RSVP is requested. Please call 757-876-2711 to register.
