You can support the Newport News Public Art Foundation just by shopping at Whole Foods on Thursday, January 11! Do your weekly shopping and enjoy a specially created Sicilian wine flight and cheese pairing for $5 in the pub to celebrate the fall 2018 sculpture installation, Man and Crocodile, created in Pietrasanta, Italy by Sicilian sculptor Girolamo Ciulla.
Whole Foods periodically holds 5% Days to give back to their local communities. On Thursday, the Public Art Foundation will receive 5% of the day’s net sales to support the installation of this new sculpture in Newport News Park. Man and Crocodile draws on Egyptian mythology, in which crocodiles had a major presence. Crocodile benches on a plaza will invite visitors to get up close and touch the sculpture while appreciating a sense of antiquity and mystery.
