Downing-Gross Cultural Arts Center is bringing in 2018 with a month full of entertainment. On January 13, the 3Sixty Concert Series begins with a hometown hero who has taken the music scene by storm. Masego kicks off the concert trilogy with opening act Melanie Faye, whose soulful bluesy guitar performances have gone viral. Tickets are $18 and general admission. Doors open at 7:30 p.m.
Get tickets to attend the second installment of the five part series of choreographed art dedicated to celebrating the centennial of Pearl Bailey with Pearl Bailey’s Hidden Gems Dance Series on January 19 at 8 p.m. The conceptual focus of each installment is a different gem. Choreographers were challenged with imagining a performance centered around a precious stone and this show’s performance is centered around the diamond. Tickets are general admission and are on sale for $10.
The month winds down on Saturday, January 27 with a stage performance of Frederick Douglass Live starring Nathan Richardson. In commemoration of the life and legacy of Douglass, born 200 years ago, author, poet, and Douglass historian Nathan Richardson will recite words of this orator and abolitionist as you've never heard them before. Tickets are available for two showings, 1:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. with a free reception to follow the last show. Tickets for all shows are $8 and are available online.
