Delegate Marcia Price, Sheriff Gabe Morgan join to Honor Dr. King

1-8 mlk food driveDr. Martin Luther King Jr. believed that life’s most persistent and urgent question is: What are you doing for others? In answer to Dr. King’s timeless question and to honor his legacy of service, Mayor McKinley Price is pleased to partner with Delegate Marcia Price, Sheriff Gabe Morgan, and the Virginia Peninsula Foodbank to host the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Food Drive.

Price said, “One out of every seven people in our community struggles with hunger. This food drive is a wonderful opportunity to continue Dr. King’s legacy, replenish the Foodbank’s supply of food after the holidays, and help families right here on the peninsula.”

On Monday, January 15 from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Mayor Price, Delegate Price and Sheriff Morgan will be at the Foodbank to accept donations from the community. Citizens, organizations, churches, community groups, school groups, and others are encouraged to collect nonperishable food items as part of the MLK Day of Service.

The Virginia Peninsula Foodbank is located at 2401 Aluminum Avenue in Hampton. For more information, contact the Mayor’s Office at 926-8403 or mayorsoffice@nnva.gov.
