Fostering Innovation within Water Utilities
The Newport News Waterworks Department is partnering with the national Water Research Foundation (WRF) and more than 50 other utilities in a collaboration focused on changing their organizations and boosting their ability to meet future challenges.
Utilities across the country have been embracing innovation as a business practice to provide more value to their customers. This value includes streamlining existing workflows, utilizing new technology, and collaborating with industry and organizations outside the utility.
Waterworks is establishing an internal innovation team to evaluate the WRF ideas and novel concepts and implement them within the utility. This incorporation will result in an increased value to the utility customers and/or increased utility productivity.
