Capital Improvements Plan
At an afternoon work session yesterday, City Council continued a discussion on the City Manager’s FY 2019-2013 Recommended Capital Improvements Plan. The Recommended CIP was presented to Council in October and is anticipated to be adopted in January. The entire plan can be reviewed
online.
Property Transferred to Housing Authority
City Council conveyed city-owned vacant property at 646 Hampton Avenue to the Newport News Redevelopment and Housing Authority, which will, in turn, transfer it to Habitat for Humanity. With the support of Newport News Shipbuilding, Habitat for Humanity is building a home on the site in the spring. This will be the 16th home funded and constructed by employees of Newport News Shipbuilding, of which 13 are in Newport News.
