Presenting draft Marshall-Ridley Choice Neighborhood Transformation Plan
After more than a year of planning, task force and community meetings, a needs assessment, and the identification of residents’ goals and priorities, the Marshall-Ridley Choice Neighborhood Transformation Plan is coming together. The City of Newport News is presenting the Draft Transformation Plan at a community meeting prior to submittal to the Department of Housing and Urban Development at the end of the month. The meeting takes place on December 14th from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Marshall Early Learning Center, 743 24th St. in Newport News. The meeting will also provide participants with the opportunity to discuss the project’s transition into implementation and sign-up for actions to support the next phase of transformation. Transportation to attend the meeting is available for residents of Ridley Place, Lassiter Courts, and Marshall Courts by contacting the Department of Planning at 757-926-8761 Participants are provided refreshments and dinner at 5:30 p.m. and informational tables are available with materials on a variety of programs and services including Family Self Sufficiency, First Time Homebuyers, and the United Way.
