The Virginia National Guard in WWI

A special event hosted by the Virginia War Museum

The Virginia War Museum is holding a special event "The Virginia National Guard in the First World War" on Saturday, December 2, from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.  The event features guest speakers, living historians and a special display of Virginia National Guard artifacts that are not regularly available for public viewing. war museum

Throughout the day, guest speakers are providing greater detail about the roles of the Virginia National Guard Units in the Great War: 
  • 11:00 a.m. - Virginia National Guard Historian Al Barnes talks about the 117th MP Company in the war.
  • 1:00 PM Historian John Simmons speaks about on the 116th Infantry
  • 3:00 PM Historian Chris Garcia talks about the 111th Field Artillery in the War. 
The event is free with regular museum admission of $8.00 adults, $7.00 active duty service personnel/senior citizens, and $6.00 for children ages 7 to 18.
