On Saturday, November 25th - just three days away, the City of Newport News is excited to recognize Small Business Saturday. This American shopping holiday is always held on the Saturday after Thanksgiving and encourages people to shop small.
Small Business Saturday is a national campaign that was launched by American Express in 2010. It was created to help bring attention to smaller stores in communities and encourage consumers to show support for our local small businesses during the holiday season. Small businesses make a major impact on the nation’s economy and according to the American Independent Business Alliance, 48 % of money spent on purchases at a local independent business is recirculated locally.
The City of Newport News is proud of and supports the outstanding contributions that our local small businesses make to our city. Remember that when you shop at a local business, you help the community grow. Please join us in supporting small, locally- owned businesses and shop small on Small Business Saturday.
