November 23, 2017 - January 1, 2018

Celebration in Lights, Virginia’s first drive-through holiday light event, opens for its 25th season on Thanksgiving night, this Thursday, November 23.  Come see Newport News Park transformed! Over one million individual lights, 300 display pieces, 43 arches, and three miles of rope lighting enhance the natural beauty of the two-mile drive along Newport News Park’s main road.lights

For its 25th Anniversary year, the event added two large 25’ x 16’ screens created by netting covered in color-changing LED lights.  The screens create animated holiday scenes at the end of the two mile route through the displays.  The Forest of Lights display area has upgraded color-changing LED bulbs to create more complex colors and patterns on the trees.

Beginning on Thanksgiving, Celebration in Lights is open each evening, 5:30 - 10:00 p.m., through January 1. The fee to enter is $12.00 per car and $60.00 per bus. Cash, credit cards (Visa/MasterCard), and checks made payable to the City of Newport News are accepted. Advance/gift tickets may be purchased at the Newport News Visitors Center at the entrance to Newport News Park, located at the intersection of Ft. Eustis Boulevard and Jefferson Avenue. For more information, call 757-926-1400 or visit the Parks, Recreation & Tourism website.
