Learn to Recycle with a Few Tools from City of Newport News
America Recycles Day, a Keep America Beautiful national initiative, is the only nationally-recognized day dedicated to celebrating recycling. Every year on November 15, thousands of communities across the country participate by promoting environmental citizenship and taking action to increase and improve recycling in America.
The City of Newport News continues its efforts in environmental stewardship through recycling education and enhancing the residential recycling program to make recycling easier for citizens. Earlier this year, the residential recycling program was expanded to accept cartons such as milk, juice, broth, soup, and wine cartons. By putting program recyclables in the recycling bin, citizens help save those items from landfills. Some materials can travel through the recycling and manufacturing process to be back on the store shelf in as little as 30 days!
