City Offices to Close for Veterans Day

In observance of Veterans Day, Newport News City offices are closed on Friday, November 10th. This includes City Hall, City offices at City Center at Oyster Point, Newport News Waterworks' customer services offices, the Public Works Operations Center, and both locations of the Treasurer's Office and Commissioner of the Revenue's Office (City Hall and Denbigh).

All Newport News public libraries are closed on both Friday, November 10 and Saturday, November 11.

Garbage, recycling, and bulk waste collections for the holiday week will take place as usual. The Recovery Operations Center (i.e., landfill) is closed on Friday, November 10 and Saturday, November 11 for Veterans Day. The center will reopen on Monday, November 13 at 8:00 a.m.

The Peninsula Regional Animal Shelter, which serves the residents of Newport News, Hampton, Poquoson and York County, will be open regular hours on Friday, November 10, Saturday, November 11 and Sunday November 12.   For more information about animal adoption hours, please visit the Peninsula Regional Animal Shelter website.
