The Hampton Roads Sanitation District (HRSD) honored the

City of Newport News’ Solid Waste Recovery Operations Center with a Pollution Prevention (P2) Diamond Award for 2015. For 10 consecutive years, the Solid Waste Operations Center had perfect permit compliance of its landfill leachate disposal system.
The award recognized the facility for having no spills, maintaining appropriate pH levels, maintaining the collection station, and submitting all required paperwork within the deadlines. HRSD considers recipients of these awards to have demonstrated a commitment to environmental excellence.
Each year HRSD honors businesses and industries for outstanding pollution prevention (P2) measures. In addition to recognizing P2 award winners, HRSD also recognizes pretreatment excellence award winners for exemplary permit compliance. A list of other recipients can be found on the
HRSD website.
