Expect detour Monday-Friday
Beginning today, Monday, October 30, commuters accessing the 600 Block of 74th Street can expect to be detoured between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday due to construction between Madison Avenue and Marshall Avenue. The City of Newport News Public Works Wastewater Division crews are working to install approximately 1,000 linear feet of sanitary sewer gravity main as part of a sanitary sewer system upgrade. The replacement minimizes the risk of future pipe failures and improves system operation, increases capacity, and enhances the ability to protect public health and the environment.
