Citizens are welcome to come learn more about the Chesapeake Avenue Bike Trail and Sidewalk Project at a public information session on Wednesday, October 25, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. The meeting, held in the Poe Room of Downing-Gross Cultural Arts Center, is an open forum style meeting where residents can ask questions about the project to Department of Engineering staff. Meeting attendees can also view and discuss the schematic plan, maps, drawings and other renderings during the session.
The proposed project is to install a bike trail and sidewalk on Chesapeake Avenue between Walnut Avenue and Pear Avenue. This project includes resurfacing the existing road and adding enhanced street-lighting on the north side of the road. A new raised median will separate vehicle traffic bicycle traffic. Residents who are interested in the project but are unable to attend the meeting may review the maps, drawings and other information and submit written comments to the Department of Engineering offices located in City Hall on the 7th floor. Interested parties must call ahead to ensure the availability of appropriate personnel to answer your questions. For more information call (757) 933-2311.
