The Newport News Fire Department has partnered with Backing the Thin Line (BTTL) to host the 2nd annual Trunk or Treat event on Saturday, October 21 from noon to 4 p.m at the Newport News Fire Training Center, 17300 Warwick Boulevard. Trunk or Treat event provides the community with a fun and safe environment while helping to raise money for first responders and their immediate family members that are suffering from a prolonged, chronic, or relentless illnesses.
The event is free and open to all ages. Bring the family to enjoy candy, games, and a bounce house. Guests should bring money for the food trucks and vendors that are on site. There is no cost to organizations interested in participating as a vendor but event organizers are asking that vendors donate 10% of their proceeds to the event.
BTTL is a non-profit support group made up of family members and friends of first responders. The group formed in 2008 after a benefit dinner for Chesapeake Detective Jarrod Shivers who was killed in the line of duty. BTTL represents all first responders: Law Enforcement Officers, Fire/EMS, and Dispatchers. Visit the
Backing the Thin Line website to learn more about the event or to participate as a vendor.
