Citizens can sign canvas at City Center
Visitors of City Center will notice a new structure located by the fountain that is filled with signatures. The structure has white canvases that can be signed by visitors to send their well wishes for those affected by Hurricanes Harvey and Irma. The United Way of the Virginia Peninsula set up the canvases, donated by Tommy Garner, as a way for people to not only share well wishes, but also a way to help gather monetary donations for the two states hit by the hurricanes a few weeks ago.
Monetary donations are being accepted at United Way's City Center office, 11820 Fountain Way, Suite 206, or
online. All funds are given to appropriate United Way organizations in Texas and Florida to directly assist relief efforts. There has been an outpouring of support by United Ways around the world in response to the devastation in Texas and Florida. The United Way system worldwide and its corporate partners are responding with immediate efforts and preparing for recovery and long-term rebuilding.
The canvases and donations raised are being mailed to the respective United Ways within the next two weeks. Citizens are encouraged to visit the United Way offices to make a donation as well as sign the canvases before they are shipped to their respective destinations.
