Community meetings being held this week
The public is invited and encouraged to attend one of two community meetings this week to provide input on a study to identify compatible land uses and growth management guidelines for the area near Fort Eustis. The meetings are open house style with a brief presentation. Light refreshments are being served.
The meetings are:
Wednesday, September 27, 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM
Denbigh Community Center
15198 Warwick Boulevard, Newport News
Thursday, September 28, 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM
Abram Frink Community Center (adjacent to James River Elementary School)
8901 Pocahontas Tr. (Route 60), Williamsburg
The City of Newport News, James City County, York County and Joint Base Langley-Eustis are working together on this Joint Land Use Study to support the long-term sustainability and operability of Fort Eustis. The study team, with input from the community, will gather and analyze data; conduct a compatibility analysis; propose recommendations; and provide a detailed implementation plan. By examining installation activities and surrounding land use and development plans, the study aims at finding a balance between military and community needs so that both can grow successfully. The draft plan is anticipated at the end of the calendar year.
