Fall concert series takes place October 6-8
The Virginia Choral Society opens its 87th season with a fall concert series October 6, 7, and 8. Under the artistic direction of Sarah Frook Gallo, the 90 member community-based choral group presents Blue Skies featuring jazz standards along with a professional jazz combo and a local youth chorus. Hear the title song Blue Skies, O When the Saints Go Marching In, Autumn Leaves and more including the United States premiere of Alexander L’Estrange’s Song Cycle: vive la vélorution! Originally commissioned for the start of the 2014 Tour de France in Yorkshire, Song Cycle tells the story of the bicycle from its beginnings to the Tour de France through ten fun and entertaining songs.
Advance tickets are available for $15 or $12 for seniors, military or students and can be purchased on the Virginia Choral Society’s website. Tickets at the door are $3 more each with children under 9 free. The concert dates are:

With its home in Newport News, the Virginia Choral Society is a community-based choral group that presents three major concert series each year. VCS sings a wide variety of music and any given concert could include Broadway choruses, a large choral-orchestral work, jazz standards, folk songs, traditional favorites, or a commissioned work from a local composer. VCS is one of the oldest continuously performing choral organizations in Virginia having been organized in 1931.
