Main Street Library’s Virginiana Room to Receive HVAC Upgrade

Posted on May 3, 2016 at 9:49 AM by Communications Department

The Martha Woodroof Hiden Memorial Virginiana Room at the Mainvaroom Street Library—containing over 4300 individual volumes specializing in Virginia genealogy and local history— is undergoing HVAC upgrades and is currently closed to the public. The failing system must be upgraded to maintain necessary long-term storage conditions for the collection and to preserve local history. The Virginiana Room will reopen on Friday, May 6th.

During this brief closure, work crews will be bringing in equipment necessary to complete the job, which is estimated to be finished by May 13th. Library patrons are still able to request materials from this room during the closure, but must ask a staff member for assistance. For patron convenience, the Ancestry computer will be relocated to the second floor of Main Street Library until the renovation is completed. More information about the Virginiana Room can be accessed at nnpls.libguides.com/Virginiana.
