The annual Virginia Peninsula Literary Consortium (VPLC) Author Talk is back again this fall. This year’s event, to be held on Thursday, October 26 at Christopher Newport University, features New York Times’ bestselling author C.J. Box. Free tickets for the author talk, question-and-answer session and book signing are available beginning Monday, September 11, at the sponsoring libraries of the VPLC, which consists of the public libraries of Newport News, Hampton, Poquoson and York County and the academic libraries of Christopher Newport University, Hampton University and Thomas Nelson Community College.
The Newport New Public Library System is a member of the VPLC, a local organization that brings regionally and nationally-recognized authors to entertain and inspire the citizens of the Virginia Peninsula. Formed in 2006, the VPLC encourages the study and enjoyment of books and promotes cooperation among all types of libraries on the Peninsula. By presenting free and open-to-the-public events with best-selling and award-winning authors, the VPLC offers new cultural experiences for community residents and encourages reading and community discussions about books.
