Hampton Roads Transit is holding a series of public meetings over the next few weeks to share information about an upcoming fare increase scheduled to take effect Sunday, October 1. In July 2014, HRT introduced the first of a two-part fare change that increased the cost of a one-way fare from $1.50 to $1.75. This next phase will increase one-way fare to $2.00.
“This two-year phasing was done to specifically address concerns raised by customers in order to prepare for the increase,” said William Harrell, president and CEO of HRT.
Public meetings are being held during August and September for customers to get more information on the fare increases, the purpose of the increase, and ask questions with regards to the increase. HRT staff will be on hand and each meeting will present the same information to the public. Below are the meetings scheduled for the peninsula.
