If you are a fan of or just have a curiosity about war games, then the weekend of August 25-27 is your chance to find out more at the Guns of August Game Convention. Hosted by the Hampton Roads Gamers, the weekend event is being held at the Virginia War Museum, 9285 Warwick Boulevard in Newport News. In addition, the Old Dominion Military Society is holding various games and events as part of the convention.
Miniatures, board games, theme games, and open gaming are available for the regular Virginia War Museum admission fee of $8 per adult, $7 per senior citizen (62 ) & active duty military w/ ID, and $6 per child ages 7-18. Game Masters receive an additional discount and multiple day passes are available.
In addition to gaming, vendors, a flea market, and charity raffle, attendees get to tour the museum and see exciting historical equipment while learning more about the history behind the wars. Stop by Friday, August 25 – noon to 10 p.m. Saturday, August 26 – 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday, August 27 – 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., to partake in the activities.
