Join Mayor McKinley Price, the City of Newport News and the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Virginia Peninsula today at TowneBank Athletic Park as they host the 3rd annual “Play Ball Field Day” in honor of Major League Baseball’s “Play Ball” initiative. The “Play Ball” initiative, supported by the United States Conference of Mayors, focuses on the fun nature of baseball and encourages widespread participation in related activities. Mayors all across America are implementing the initiative throughout the summer with the goal of strengthening the connection between communities and the national pastime.
From 5:00- 8:00 p.m. today families are invited to enjoy a variety of field day and baseball activities, including a pitch, hit & run event, followed by a community-wide picnic. The event is free and open to the public. TowneBank Athletic Park is located at 706 Adams Drive in Newport News.
