This Saturday, July 29, the Newport News Neighborhood Watch Coalition and Target in partnership with the

Newport News Police Department and other city agencies are hosting a special kickoff event to get the community excited about “National Night Out” on Tuesday, August 1. Once a year neighborhoods across the country team up with local police departments to host “National Night Out” events in their cities. These events promote community-police partnerships and camaraderie between neighbors with the understanding that by working together neighborhoods become a safer, better place to live.

The July 29 kick-off event takes place in the Target parking lot located at 12130 Jefferson Avenue from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Enjoy live entertainment, pony rides, car show, giveaways, and more. Following the Saturday night kick off, join neighbors Tuesday as the City of Newport News observes National Night Out.
