Bring Photos and Share Stories
The Choice Neighborhood Initiative team is inviting neighbors of the Southeast Community to share their favorite memories at an interactive discussion entitled "History of the Southeast Community as told by residents themselves." This free, multigenerational

event is on Tuesday, July 25 at 6 p.m. in the Marshall Early Learning Center, 743 24th Street.
Each facilitated session provides an opportunity for neighbors to share their favorite memories of the people, houses, retail stores, schools, churches, and more of the southeast community throughout the years. The goal of the event is to remind everyone how the neighborhood used to be in order to prepare for the plans of what it will be in the future. Everyone is encouraged to participate, celebrate, and engage in this effort for change. Bring old pictures and stories to share! For more information, contact Dr. Telly Whitfield at
twhitfield@nnva.gov or 757-926-8621.
The Choice Neighborhoods Initiative (CNI), managed by HUD, provides competitive grants to transform neighborhoods into places of choice by rebuilding both public and assisted housing into mixed-income communities. The comprehensive process brings together local leaders, residents, and a vast array of other stakeholders to create and implement a neighborhood revitalization plan to transform distressed HUD housing and address neighborhood challenges. The initiative is intended to help localities build neighborhoods of opportunity.
