The United Way of the Virginia Peninsula is launching a new affinity group for the next generation of philanthropic leaders on the Virginia Peninsula.

The Emerging Leaders Society connects young professionals who are in their 20s and 30s and interested in helping those in need with the top leaders in the community. Society members along with community leaders work to ensure that every child succeeds in school, the community is a safe and healthy place, and those living on the peninsula have financial stability.
Young professionals are invited to learn more about the United Way’s Emerging Leaders Society during a special kickoff event at Tradition Brewing Company in Newport News on Monday, July 17 at 5 p.m. Guests can network and hear from two of the community’s most philanthropic leaders: Debra A. Flores of Sentara CarePlex Hospital and Conway H. Sheild III of Jones, Blechman, Woltz & Kelly. Tickets are $5 and may be
purchased online. For more information call 873-9328 or email
