Effective July 1, water service fees for Newport News Waterworks customers have increased; however, there has been no increase in water consumption rates for the new fiscal year. For the average residential customer with a 5/8” meter, this equates to an increase of $1 per month in the service fee. While a department of the City of Newport News,

Waterworks receives no money from the City to operate and is dependent upon revenue from customers in terms of fees and charges for water service, delivery and connection for its operations. Even with this increase,
Newport News Waterworks still delivers safe drinking water to the average single-family residential customer for about a $1 per day.
