In celebration of National Travel & Tourism Week,

May 1-7, the Newport News Tourism Development Office has planned several events to increase awareness of the importance of travel and tourism. This year, the City is paying homage to its many parks, particularly Newport News Park, which is celebrating its 50th birthday in 2016. To honor the golden anniversary of Newport News Park, the Newport News Tourism Development Office is awarding 50 prizes to 50 winners during its
Newport News Tourism Awareness Contest, held annually to celebrate National Travel & Tourism Week.
The contest – dubbed
Where in the World Can You Find These Parks in Newport News? – starts May 1 and continues through May 20.

Contestants will be given photographic clues that match up to eight locations in Newport News where parks are found. All correct entry forms will be entered into a drawing to select the prize winners. The prizes range from restaurant gift certificates and museum memberships to overnight stays at local hotels and themed gift baskets.
Beginning May 2, contest entry forms will be available for pickup from the Newport News Visitor Center, 13560 Jefferson Ave., and from the Parks, Recreation & Tourism office at 700 Town Center Drive (Suite 320). Entry forms will also be available online at
www.newport-news.org.

All forms must be received by the Newport News Visitor Center by 5 PM. May 20 and can be returned in person, by mail, by fax, or by e-mail. Winners will be notified by phone after May 23. A list of contest winners will be available at the Visitor Center and online at
www.newport-news.org on May 27. The contest is open to all U.S. residents 18 years of age and older. No purchase is necessary.
