On Saturday, June 24 from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m., Spike’s K9 Fund, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting dogs who serve in law enforcement, is hosting a special event to repair the Newport News Police K9 Obstacle Course. Event organizers are looking for more

volunteers to assist the Newport News Police Department (NNPD) with the repairs. Volunteers are not required to have any building experience and all skill levels are welcomed. Food is being provided to all volunteers, and Spike’s K-9 Fund is providing supplies to build and repair the obstacles.
The event features a demonstration by members of the NNPD K9 Unit and chance to meet the dogs and their handlers. Held at the NNPD K9 Kennels located at 100 City Farm Road, the event is free and open to the public.
