Enjoy a School’s Out Cookout and 3-on-3 basketball tournament
The newest Safe Zone for Kids is being dedicated on Monday, June 19 at 1:00 p.m. at South Morrison Family Education Center, 746 Adams Drive in Newport News. The location’s original playground has been revitalized to include a swing set, park benches, picnic tables,

two basketball half courts, and an additional music-themed play structure for young children. Guests can visit on-site vendors, participate in other activities that include the Newport News Police Department Mobile Playground.
Before the dedication ceremony, from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., the public is invited to join a School’s Out Cookout and a 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament. The basketball tournament has three divisions: middle school, high school, and adults. All participants receive a t-shirt, and winning teams in each division receive awards.
