Virginia Natural Gas and Virginia Clean Cities are hosting a stop in Newport News on the 2nd annual “From Sea-to-Shining-Sea” Natural Gas Vehicle Road Rally Across America. The checkpoint rally takes place at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 15 at the Virginia Natural Gas public fueling station at 746 Diligence Drive. The Newport News location is one of two natural gas fueling stations operated in the Commonwealth by Virginia Natural Gas.
Open to the public, the rally highlights the many benefits of using clean-burning, domestic natural gas in transportation and the variety of vehicles available that operate on natural gas. Virginia Natural Gas is using the event to demonstrate their commitment to expanding the use of natural gas as a transportation fuel as it is domestically produced, and is a greener fueling option. Virginia Secretary of Transportation Aubrey Lane and City of Newport News sustainability coordinator Jennifer Privette are attending the event that is also recognizing a local fleet for being the recipient of the Governor’s Green Fleet award.
The 18-stop, 4,825-mile journey started outside of Long Beach, California on Monday, June 5 and concludes in Washington, DC on Friday, June 16. To RSVP for the event and learn more about the rally, visit the
