The Five-Year Consolidated Plan for Housing and Community Development is a planning requirement of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for the receipt and use of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and HOME Investment Partnerships (HOME) funds. As a recipient of these funds, the City is required to prepare a long range plan that identifies housing, homeless and community and economic development needs and determines priorities, establishes strategic goals and allocates anticipated resources.
A draft of the City of Newport News’ Consolidated Annual Performance and Evaluation Report (CAPER) for Fiscal Year 2015-2016 is now available for public review and comment. The CAPER summarizes the programmatic accomplishments and financial expenditures during the program year July 1, 2015 through June 30, 2016 with funds made available to the City from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program and the HOME Program. The CAPER is available for review until September 19, 2016 at all Newport News public libraries, The Department of Development and Newport News Redevelopment and Housing Authority and on our website.
