Crime Line – Report an Anonymous Tip

Newport News Crime Line – Weeks of August 5th & 12th, 2019


I’m Master Police Officer Brandon Maynard.  The Newport News Police Department needs your help to solve a recent homicide.

On August 1st, 2019, at approximately 10:21 PM Newport News Police responded to the 900 block of Forest Lake Court in reference to a shooting.

Upon arrival, officers found two victims suffering from gunshot wounds. One of the victims, later identified as a 15 year-old Newport News male, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The second victim, later identified as 18 year-old Tyree Lamar Spady of the 200 block of Hollywood Avenue in Hampton, was taken to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries a short time later. The investigation remains ongoing.
