Absentee Voting

Registered voters who will be away from Newport News on Election Day, or who are unable due to a disability, may vote by absentee ballot. Eligible citizens may vote in-person prior to Election Day or apply to have an absentee ballot mailed to them using one of the following options:

  • Voting will begin September 18 at City Hall and will continue, Monday- Friday from 8:00-5:00 for the month of September.
  • Beginning October 1, the City Hall location will be open every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 8:00-5:00 and every Wednesday from 8:00-7:00
  • Deadline to request a ballot be mailed - October 23rd at 5:00 PM
  • Deadline to vote in person - Saturday, October 31st at 5:00 PM

The office will be open on Saturday, October 24th and Saturday, October 31st from 9 AM - 5 PM.
