The elected post of Treasurer was created by the Virginia Constitution of 1870. As an elected official, the treasurer ensures that local funds will be collected, invested and spent by an officer who reports directly to the people.
Our Duties
The Treasurer is responsible for all revenue which comes to our locality, including:
Business License Fees
Collecting Personal Property and Real Estate Assessments
Estimated and State Income Tax Payments
Fire Inspections Fees
Issuance of Animal Licenses
Stormwater Fees
Vehicle License Fees
The Treasurer is also responsible for managing the investment of local funds and to maintain records of local finances.
