Youth Services

Mayor Youth Citizen of the Year AwardYouth Development is working together to provide opportunities for youth to connect with positive activities with caring adults in and out of school. All of the activities focus on accepting and valuing youth as resources and leaders. Opportunities to engage youth consist of:
  • Career choice preparation
  • Character education
  • Civic engagement through community involvement
  • Identifying and promoting healthy lifestyle choices
  • Leadership development
  • Social skill development
Youth Development staff use the Positive Youth Development and Developmental Assets framework to educate and train community members to work together and support youth. This teamwork encourages youth to build up their abilities and skills and become healthy adults.
