The Central Precinct of the City of Newport News runs from South Avenue north to Bland Boulevard on Jefferson Avenue and Oyster Point Road on Warwick Boulevard. Three shifts patrol the central section of the city, which is experiencing rapid commercial and residential growth.
Officers within the Central Precinct respond to all calls for service in the area and investigate property crimes. All crimes against persons (homicide, murder, robbery, aggravated assaults, sexual assaults, and high-dollars fraud) are investigated by the Major Crimes Division.
