Four Oaks Day Services & Training Center

Four Oaks Day Services & Training Center is a beacon of hope and opportunity in the heart of Newport News that helps people transition out of homelessness into employment, stable housing and independence. The Center is operated by the Newport News Department of Human Services.

Services Provided

  • Job skill and workforce development classes

  • Medical, Mental Health and Substance Abuse treatment services and resources

  • Housing Assistance

  • Computer literacy in an on-site computer lab

  • Assistance securing personal documents needed to obtain housing, employment and benefits

  • Budgeting and financial literacy classes

  • Transportation to and from appointments, interviews and pre-approved locations


In addition to providing comprehensive supports that transform peoples’ lives, services at Four Oaks meet the basic needs of homeless individuals and families. The Center features:


  • Showers and restrooms

  • Laundry facilities

  • Mailing address/Mail pickup

  • Family room with children’s area

  • Private meeting and counseling spaces

  • Telephone access

  • Quiet resting areas

  • Snacks twice daily

  • Haircuts

  • Storage for personal items while on-site
