General Prosecution Team
The General Prosecution Team prosecutes cases of adults charged with a wide range of criminal offenses involving crimes against property, weapons violations, loss of money, and a variety of other matters. Examples of these crimes include larceny, burglary, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and obtaining money by false pretenses. Prosecutes cases involving adults charged with the possession, manufacturing, and/or selling of illegal drugs such as cocaine and Ecstasy; illegal uses of legal drugs such as prescription fraud; driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs (DUI); and DUI-related vehicle wrecks causing injuries and/or fatalities. The team is also responsible for civil forfeiture actions in cases where property, such as cars and money, is used in connection with crimes. Forfeited property enables local, state, and federal law-enforcement agencies to fund future crime prevention initiatives and to recoup expenses associated with criminal investigations.
Prosecutes cases involving adults charged with criminal offenses in which the legal research necessary for proper investigation and prosecution requires considerable attention to complex and extensive records such as financial statements and computer files. Examples of these crimes include possession of child pornography, fraud, and embezzlement. Prosecutes cases where the criminal offenses, particularly violent crimes such as rape, robbery, and murder, are motivated by the involvement of criminal street gangs and are committed by and/or against juveniles and adults. Prosecutes cases of adults charged with committing acts of violence against other adults. Examples of these crimes include rape, robbery, and murder.
Juvenile Team
The Juvenile Team prosecutes cases of non-violent crimes committed by and/or against juveniles, including crimes committed on school property. Examples of these crimes include the possession, manufacturing, and/or selling of illegal drugs, burglary, larceny, simple assault, and destruction of property. Prosecutes cases of violent crimes, such as rape, robbery, and murder, committed by and/or against juveniles. This team also prosecutes cases where members of a family or close relationship are charged with committing crimes against a relative or loved one. Examples of these crimes include domestic assault and child abuse/neglect.
