Life Insurance Beneficiary Change for Retirees

As you may be aware, the City of Newport News has chosen MetLife as the provider of the NNERF life insurance program effective January 1, 2021. Please note there were no changes to your benefit amounts as a result of this vendor change.

We would like to encourage retirees to enter beneficiary information with MetLife, if you have not done so already, to make sure information is up to date and to replace paper forms on file. Winston Benefits, a MetLife partner, is the enrollment administrator for the City of Newport News life insurance benefit and provides two ways to add/update your beneficiary information:

  • Call Winston Benefits at 1-855-451-6752 and update your beneficiary information with a Call Center Team Member, or
  • Create an account on the Winston Benefits portal and update your beneficiary information online. To begin the process in the portal, visit Winston Benefits at www.nnvabenefits.com. If you have not utilized the portal previously, please download the Winston Instruction Document.
    • Please make sure to click on Create New Account when first going onto the portal.
    • When prompted to enter employee ID, make sure to enter your ID as shown on your paystub.
