Adult Protective Services

The Department of Human Services is responsible for providing services to elderly and/or incapacitated adults to prevent abuse, neglect, and/or exploitation. Protective Services consist of investigating complaints, assessing service needs, and arranging for services. Sometimes elderly and/or incapacitated adults are unable to take care of themselves or their personal business, often due to ill health, and need some help or assistance.

If you want to discuss a situation about someone you know or you have knowledge of a situation, you can file a report / complaint by calling the local Adult Protective Services hotline at 757-926-6329 Monday through Friday between the hours of 8 AM and 5 PM, or call the state hotline at 1-888-832-3858.
