Should you need to surrender your pet to Peninsula Regional Animal Shelter as a last resort please bring photo ID (example: driver’s license) with a valid address in one of the four jurisdictions we provide service for (Newport News, Hampton, Poquoson, York County). Should your identification not reflect your current address in one of those cities please bring proof of residency (such as a bill with your name and address on it) to surrender.
You can complete the Owner Surrender Questionnaire that you can submit via email to pras-reunite@nnva.gov or print a copy and bring with you. Please understand that there are exigent situations that may need to take priority for intake.
Once you’ve surrendered your pet to Peninsula Regional Animal Shelter no further information will be released about the final disposition of your pet. Please see below to complete the personality profiles as completely as possible so we have as much information possible about your pet and bring it with you.
